Creating a Social Media Department

What are Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Ning, Hi5, etc?
You will probably say: Social Media!
Yes! That's right! But what does that mean, from the marketers point of view?

Yep! It's logic! It's another MARKET!

Of course it's a pioniers market, but that's the good part. It's like discovering America all over again. And I want you to understand one thing, about Social Media: nobody really knows how it works, what trends it will take and why some, get all the atention and others are complete strangers to social media populatio, though they offer relevant content than their competitors.

So! Where to begin?

Find 1-3 teens. Why teens? Because they know this new world where social media is like having a cell-phone. So it's a necessity. Give him/her/them tasks and targets.
The first step is just to talk. Yes! Just talk. The company must start the conversation.
The second step is to do some PR. Be carefull what news you send to Facebook. People like a more common speech, rather then the official one that you use with the press.
Third step is masked marketing. Don't ever write prices in Social Media. Beside the fact that it sucks for the client to see the price at first, it is also a suicide mission for the social media marketer to do so.
Storys work. Company events work. Employees opinions work. Jock's work. Films/movies work. Mentioning competitors works. Play games with your accounts friends. Yes it works!

So do this, at first and I'll tell you more later.
